101.✓Vietnam–Walk Saigon River
By Dane Garner
Intro
Why is this on my list.

The Saigon River is one of the most renowned rivers in the world. It nourishes millions of people and sustains an incredibly diverse ecosystem. The river itself is remarkable—vast, alive, and full of history. I must admit, I didn’t have the chance to travel far up or down its waters, but I did experience a glimpse of its beauty while in Ho Chi Minh City.

It happened to be the day before the anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War, so the city was alive with activity and security. Police and soldiers were stationed throughout, their presence a reminder of the day’s significance. Yet, amidst all the movement and energy, I found a quiet moment for myself. I sat at the river’s edge with a cup of coffee, watching the water flow past.

It was simple, peaceful, and grounding. Though my photos from that day didn’t capture the scene as I had hoped—perhaps because I was a little distracted—the memory remains far more vivid than any picture could.

Photo Essay.
