Intro
Why is this on my list.

146. ✓China–Go to 798- art district.

The reason that this was on my bucket list is it’s full of contradictions you wouldn’t think that a place like Beijing has a lot of graffiti but here on the 798 art District which was an old abandoned military factory how cool is that a mixture of beautiful art and crazy old military buildings.

The story.

Now I know what you’re thinking why would the Chinese government allowing people to take over an old military complex to create art surprisingly speaking China is becoming more and more open not as much as a lot of countries but they’re allowing art and the craziest most avant-garde crazy art I found was in China like the grapes contemporary Art Museum of Beijing

But here in this old abandoned military complex not everything is what it seems it’s like a labyrinth with huge pipes running through everything it’s a mixture so many things steam punk hipster Communist capitalist and it has a small pinch of a cult

Except instead of Kool-Aid it’s lattes

But they’re nice lattes so today I started out the day by going to a nice Café and drinking a latte while looking around the beautiful art and watching the interesting people from all over the world hey it’s a beautiful life you must we’ll take it in sometimes

But after what I got bored so I finish my lot and started wandering around and like I said every corner of this place is painted hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of liters of paint to probably been used to create this art

(Photos down at the bottom of the post)

It’s beautiful it’s like a huge outdoor art gallery where you can touch the heart cannot tackle by a 700 pound dude but after a while it starts all look very similar and then I realize there actually isn’t any anti-Communist paintings it’s all just beautiful art so not everything can be so idyllic that’s probably why the Chinese government is okay with displays nothing against the government it’s just beautiful art painted by cool people

you can hate that when my favorite once was a huge statue of Mount UC without a head to the photo where my head pops at the Houston shield I don’t know how much the Chinese government would like that photo but hey what can you do

After a couple hours of wandering around and even a couple more coffees of insecticide since it sounds going down the time for me to leave I walk out looking for subway station and it turns out it’s about 10 minutes away for the first time a long time I pick up a taxi just make my life a lot simpler hey can’t complain and as I sit in the taxi driving away from the huge complex I just realize how interesting China what an interesting mix it can be

I hope you enjoy the post and I hope you remember to always express yourself whatever that maybe even in a communist country

I love you all and I’ll see in the next post

Love dane
