Intro
Why is this on my list.

164.✓Japan–Catch and cook your own food in Zauo.

The reason this one is on my bucket list is very simple. I find us humans have disconnected are selfs from the food that we eat especially the animals. But  in this restaurant you catch your food and in a few mins you get to see the fish that you catch in front of you on a plate.

It’s one of the most human experience. Boil down to a game.

The story.

Here in Tokyo the one thing that you tend to do a lot is

wait…..wait…..wait.

Wether it is in line or for your reservations or waiting for a train.

It is a part of life. Here in Tokyo.

And that’s what me and my friend are doing sitting side-by-side on the seat waiting for reservations at a restaurant. But this is no regular hole in the wall the restaurant that we are waiting to go to is named Zorro,

A restaurant famous for you having the ability to take catch your own fish and the cook it literally doesn’t get any fresher than that. You can almost taste the sole of the fish.

And I hope I to hook a fish.

That’s what our plan is at lest.

To go catch some fish and eat it now being  an Albertan and from my family I have not really eaten much fish in my life. But this is one of the experience where I absolutely hope I love it.

( spoiler alert I did)

One of the first things we do is wet sit down and get are drinks. We Relax in are seat and look at the menu and in no time a cute Japanese girl is telling us the rules and how we choose the way they cook the fish.

Then we order are drinks and she gives us a little thing of crayfish. She tells us this is to hook a fish. then she lets us go off and try and get a fish. we are given little fishing rods and we each stick a small crayfish onto the hook dropping it in to the tank.

I think to my self how much fun this would be if we were drunk sadly we are not.

but hey there’s plenty of times to drink in life.

After about 20 minutes we catch a fish. It’s an exciting adventure I lifted up and I hear a huge Japanese guy start ringing  a bell. saying that we caught a fish in Japanese

( or I think that is what he was saying)

we give the fish to him and he asked how we wanted it cooked we say can we have half fried and half and sushi.  We  sit back down and take a sip of are drinks.

We have a perfect view of all the young children playing with the fish. it’s a little morbid but also quite beautiful.

the very cute waitress comes back and asked us if you want anything else we go for the sushi meat plate and a salad with a couple more drinks. hey you only live once.

In regular fashion, in Japan. The plating was beautiful  I start taking photos after a few mins are fish comes.

It is fresh as it can be, that poor fish cut up and laying in front of us in all different fashions he looks lost.

I pick up a small piece of meat I look at my GF and take a bite……

It’s delicious as delicious as it can be and as fresh as it can be. You can literal taste of the ocean slightly salty incredibly fatty it’s a good experience.

we sit down and we quietly started eating are meals. I am not speaking to much. I am thinking about how beautiful this meal is. this place is a little hokey and a little bit cheesy. but it’s still a good experience and something I highly suggest anybody.

We finish are meal after a hour or so we pay and say thank you. I take a few more pic before I leave then we go off full of good food hoping that it was a quick kill for that poor fish.

I love you all and thank you for reading my post I hope you all get the chance to try a odd meal like the one I just had.

I will see you on the next post,

Love Dane
