Why is this on my list.

2.✓Hong Kong–Hong Kong Harbor.

From the movies of Jet Li and the famous photos I used to see on Nat Geo, Hong Kong Harbour has always been a very big fascination of mine.

As the biggest harbour in the world it is literally where east meets west with the British colonies in the centre coast of China.

It’s a historical place that is a technologically advanced and that’s the reason I wanted to see it. it’s important place in a world where a lot of trade has happened.

The story.

I remember the first time I saw Hong Kong Harbour House taking the train from the airport in downtown Hong Kong – looking at all the cargo containers and thinking to myself that there is definitely drugs and guns and maybe the people getting smuggled in and out and it’s a very odd thought.

But there’s also goods, food, cars, TVs, and one million other things that are being transported to and from Hong Kong every day.

Due to it being one of the biggest harbours in the world I haven’t gotten super up close to it, but I passed it many times. Every single time I did it was the same thought – how crazy it is to have so much stuff, so many people and so much industry pass through such a small place. People have made their fortunes and lost their fortunes because of it.

There’s a beauty to it. It’s one of those places you go to see what a human achievement looks like, it’s beautiful and a very decrepit way.

I don’t have many stories about why this is on my bucket list when it’s more the idea. It’s just such a famous place like Sydney Harbour and San Francisco, they’re just such big industrial places where you can see so much trade and so many people boarding and getting off, it makes you think about the complexities of the world.

Assuming sometimes I forget how complicated and how smart we are. We’re smart and stupid all at same time. Every single time you go to buy a new spoon and fork it’s possible that it went through Hong Kong. It’s a cool place and I highly suggest that if anybody gets a chance to go there that they do and just watch the boats passing through.

Even from my home on the small island Tia Ho you could see the boats coming and going every day filled with goods for trade going to every other corner of the world from Canada all the way to Africa and everywhere in between.
