Through the past seven years of travelling (Oh God, that is so long) I have learnt a lot. But the one thing that keeps getting banged into my head is travelling is not necessarily about where you are or what you are doing.
I know, I know, the places and the things are cool you can’t be sad sitting on a beach drinking cocktails (well you can but you know what I mean).
Of course I remember the Great Wall of China, how it stretches farther then the skyline and the beautiful way it looks like a colossal snake slither thought the a field of grass; but most of all I remember the people who I was with. I remember this beautiful German woman and our chat about life and that we shared homemade black forest cake on the Great Wall of China with me.
Or the time that I was in the Australian outback with a kangaroo hunter. And how we are just chatting about life as we watched kangaroos hop pass us the sun was setting, it was not the outback it was my friend; or for the purposes of this bucket list post.
I remember this beautiful amazing kind smart woman named Lilith Etch that I met when I was living in Emu Park and our kiss in the rain.
It started off like any other day, I had to help clean some rooms and do a little bit of painting.
After that I sat down paint streaked and with a coffee to start worked on a few posts. After a few hours all the backpackers started coming back from the island trip. Me being me, I started chatting to the group as you do in a backpacker’s hostel.
I remember meeting and chatting with Lilith Etch my first thoughts was that she looked cool and sounded intelligent; little did I know that we will end out spending many hours together over the next few days. It was a very fun time, the conversation, we talk about life, love, sexuality, our hopes dream’s and loves in life.
After a while Lilith told me, that she’s a professional nude model. I ask about that and what she feels about society nude. She is incredibly intelligent and incredibly beautiful.
We laugh and even cried. I loved every second of our chats. And that was just the first day.
The next day after work I’m sitting at the bar back with Lilith Etch chatting and I notice that it’s raining.
Not the amazing amount, a sweet amount it made the humid day feel a lot better. By this time, she knows I have a bucket list. Her and I sitting in the rain enjoying the discussion as warm water droplets fell upon us. Our eyes met and she sees that I am smiling, I ask Lilith if it is ok if she helped me cross something off my bucket list. She gave me a beautiful smile, one that makes her whole face lit up and she says yes. I ask if we can kiss in the rain, she blushes a little, I probably blushed a lot.
But she says yes.
We stand up in the rain, it is falling a little harder. In my mind I can’t stop thinking how beautiful and how lucky I am to know her. We do a small cute dance to the slow tunes in the bar, I feel like it is a movie and I can imagine the end credits are about to roll in a cheesy movie.
Then we get closer I notice the smaller features of her beauty, the way her nose scrunches when she smiles at me; like Thumper off of Bambi. Or the way the colour of her eyes reminds me of the beauty of an ice covered lake in Canada on a cold winter day. (in a good way lol).
Then our lips meet. As the rain is hitting our shoulders and heads. I fell the cool caress of the wind on my wet body and the warm connect or my lips on hers. It is a nice calm and sweet moment.
One that I will remember forever…
