Rachel and I have just finished wandering though the Acropolis as we are walking out looking for a cold drink I look over to my love and say “another thing off my bucket list and one of the most famous buildings in the world to boot”
We are wandering through the streets just outside the Acropolis the sun is shining through the huge leaves of the huge old trees we are sweaty and sticky like we have been running in a marathon. As we are wandering around we listen to buskers playing sweet and smooth guitar it is romantic. I go to hold my love’s hand. We see dogs and cats running past us and the shade of beautiful trees that look like they’re plucked out of ancient murals. it is a nice memory something I want to remember forever.
But I am pulled from the moment with Rachel pointing at a nice little cafe.
We decide to quickly set down and have a coffee, We both ordered a cappuccino Freddo that this signature Greek coffee that everybody tends to drink a cooling refreshing coffee with whips milk on top we order we smile we paid our money and we sat down under the shade of a beautiful umbrella.
We watch the horses slowly and methodically walk past us carrying tourists taking photos of every moment we feel about for the horses but we also feel bad for whoever has to shovel up the horse shit. After we have her cafes we stand up hold hands and walk away. To the museum of the Parthenon.
We are on the hunt…….The hunt for the famous sphere of Helios. A giant marble sphere that is said to be made between the 2nd and the 3rd century CE.
I don’t really know how old that is but I would guess it’s fuckin older than the queen.
We are wandering through the streets to eventually get to the museum a huge modern art piece itself with beautiful glass windows stacked up at judging angles cutting through the skyline like a knife through a slab of feta eventually we go in and we pay for our respective tickets. the woman was nice but she seemed like she did not want to be there.
Rachael and I quickly run to the top and start working our way down. After a couple of minutes, we eventually find the Magic Sphere of Helios next to a wall of golden coins. I think to myself look at all that bling that shines brightly as the Sun.
the Magic Sphere of Helios is sitting there it’s amazing ( Smaller than I thought) there is a carving of the Greek God Helios holding a whip in one hand and a lit torch in the other. and there are huge beasts lying as feet nobody really knows what they are they think it could be a lion or a dog for me I take a looks more as if it’s a modern art piece or a guy who got bored and start carving into a cannibal. (but that is just me and we all know how sane I am)
But it’s amazing to think that this is such an important piece of the town nobody really knows what it was used for weather was for magical rituals or just to give somebody some extra luck. but it’s still pretty cool to see it is pretty cool to experience something that you never saw in Canada.
I feel incredibly lucky to be there and I feel incredibly lucky to see it Rachel and I stare at it for a couple minutes and laugh about how it would be good for bowling than we stare at the beautiful gold coins that are sitting right next to it. and then eventually we wander on our way out looking for a couple other things to cross off the bucket list
After that We don’t know what we’re going to do probably something chill it’s hard and we did lots of walking but I hope you guys enjoyed the post and thank you so much for reading it I love you all and I’ll see on the next post.
Love Dane
