605.✓UK–The Sherlock Holmes Pub
The reason why this is on my bucket list is because It is such an iconic story. Mr. Sherlock Holmes and Watson are the living embodiment of what I want out of my life, They are dapper intelligent men that are well-versed in history science in culture and once I found out that there is a pub that was based off of Sherlock Holmes books movies plays etc. In my head I pictured a very old and beautiful pub filled with antiques and dusty old books that you could smell from a mile away you know the ones the ones that smell like your grandma.
Granted it wasn’t that it was more of a tourist destination but are you win some and you lose some
It’s a frigid cold night it’s one of those nights where your teeth are just about to start chattering but you force them not to buy clenching your jaw. But I’m not thinking about that because my hands are wrapped around Rachel’s and we’re walking through one of the most beautiful cities have ever been to. We Pass in and out the streets of London some about as wide as the four-lane highway and others are such a tight fit I feel like I might need to lose some weight before me and Rachel can get through. But I guess that’s just to Europe
We want to get in somewhere and Share a few drink and relax (we are adults) we have had a long day of wandering around the streets of London crossing things off our bucket list. We passed Starbucks with its lights shining bright and the droves of people typing away on their keyboards maybe making the new Harry Potter or bullying somebody online. You never know in this world or the Wetherspoons we can get drunk off off 10 pounds but me and Rachel don’t even take a sideways glance at them
We’re looking for something special Something that is on are bucket list. Rachel pulls out her cell phone and checks that were very confused because Google maps is taking us left and right. I don’t know if it’s trying to have us lose some weight with a couple extra hundred steps or it’s not even working the Wi-Fi is cutting in and out because of the tall skyscrapers that cut into the night sky.
After About 20 minutes of staring back-and-forth from Google maps and the street signs we eventually turn the corner and see the pub on What a hell of a site. the outside it looks like a classic British pub Stainglass windows painted with a beautiful piction of Sherlock and Watson staring at each other I start getting excited not only to warm up in a place also because autonomy were crossing another thing off my bucket list.
Me and Rachel quickly walk to the front door and grab a hold of the cold handle and pull it open were instantly hit with a warm flow of hot air and a den of noise it’s a busy place for such a cool quiet night. my heart sinks a little realizing that most of the people are tourists this later solidified more in seeing that there is merchandise that you can buy.
When I shrug my shoulders and go up to the bar and I said Italian woman comes up and asks with me and Rachel want Rachel gets a class in mould wine and I asked there’s any specials and she says that for the next 10 minutes before happy hour closes you can get two for one beers I show my shoulders and say what the hell not as quick as I said that she already had two beers in the mould wine in her hand I’m impressed at her speed we quickly pay her and go off to a seat sadly everything is full it’s incredibly fascinating how full this place is it’s insane.
We eventually find a seat and we end up sitting next to a nice German couple star talk about life cameras London itself and how cool it is to travel around the world a couple pure soon I start realizing I’m getting a little tipsy I think Rachel is as well we look at the time and realize a couple hours of past it’s insane how quick time flies when you’re having fun
I quickly go to the bathroom taking my camera so I could take some photos of the memorabilia decorating the walls after that me and Rachel sit down have a couple minutes saying goodbye it to the German couple we shake their hands And off we go we walk out of the Sherlock Holmes pub and walking into the greater London area a place that we know and love I take a quick look back To see the Sherlock Holmes Pub but a little sad that it turned not out to be exactly what I thought but I’m still happy I went and met such nice pepole
