Why is this on my list.

653.✓UK–Natural History Museum of London

This is literally one of the best museums in the world, up there with the Smithsonian, to go to this museum has been a dream of mine for many years as the amount of information it holds is incredible. I can literally wander the halls of this museum for days and not feel like I crossed anything off. I’m very lucky that I got the chance to go here.

The story.
This is the first time I’ve gone there and I would like to go there many more times, this museum has taken my heart.
OK now here’s the story. Me and Rachael are walking from the underground to a huge monolith of a building, and start to bounce up and down as I see it even though it’s raining but god that’s London, it’s always raining! I’m holding Rachael’s hand pulling her closer and closer to the Natural History Museum.
We get in there shaking ourselves off from the rain and I look up to see a giant blue whale skeleton hanging there precariously, as if it’s mid stride in the ocean. My imagination is already fired up and I know this is going to be an amazing time, but before that we give our jackets to the cloakroom. It costs £12 which is a lot but it’s worth it because I know that its going to a good cause. From there we’re off!
We look at the map and I just realize there’s no way in hell we’re gonna be able to finish everything so we decide to just do some special spots, so we walk through the first section of health and body exhibit that looked a little bit too old for now – the videos were all from the 60’s and all the activities seemed about that time but we shake it off and went on about our way. From there we moved on to the dinosaurs. Now this is no Drumheller but it’s still amazing seeing the eggs and the fossils of long since gone beasts. I can almost see them coming to life and then me and Rachael start wandering the animal enclosure where there are taxidermy animals from all around the World, from when Britain ruled seemingly the whole planet.
I thought that was really cool to see but there’s a small pang of sadness knowing that an animal had to die just for us to see it, but they’ve given up their life to give people education. I’m not saying that’s worth it but it’s definitely a valiant effort. And then after that on and on and on and on it went. There’s a couple reasons why I went to this museum – to see the Darwin exhibit and to see the Kryptonite. We start running around looking for the kryptonite and after about 20 minutes we find an empty case with a little sign explaining it’s been taken away for research. I don’t know if I will be able to ever cross it off but if I never get the chance to see it again I might consider this as ticking it off my list. After that we looked at the time and holy shit instead of 20 minutes it’s been a couple of hours.
We need to get going! So me and Rachael quickly ran back to the front, got our jackets and left. Now by no means is this the last time I go to this museum but it was a beautiful time. You know how it is, the first is always the best. I love you all and I hope you guys get to go to this museum whether you are a local or an international. This is a place where you can go and see parts of the world you never thought you could get the chance to go to and it’s also a place to learn and understand and educate yourself. How in the world could you not love that.
I hope you enjoy the post, I love you all and I’ll see you next time.
Love dane
