176.✓France– Drink a coffee next to the Eiffel tower.

Intro
Why is this on my list.

For a man who loves coffee as much as I do there’s nothing more iconic than sitting in a café next to the Eiffel tower, sipping my drink whilst discussing art or how beautiful the flowers are or something like that. I luckily got to do that with someone I love. I cannot complain about crossing this one off my bucket list but I can complain about the fact that it cost more than an arm and a leg. But hey, c’est la vie, it’s Paris baby.

The story.

Let me set the scene – imagine a grainy black-and-white movie, the one that flickers in that odd way. Imagine that video being Paris in its heyday with horse-drawn carriages ploughing through the street. People are discussing deep and interesting topics like philosophical ideas while sipping a deep black cup of coffee next to the Eiffel Tower. That is exactly what I was thinking about as I was drinking coffee next Eiffel Tower. Sadly, it was not quite like that for me but I still cannot complain. Moments ago, we had had our little kiss in front of the Eiffel Tower, my heart was fluttering and I was quite happy, but sadly it is a bit too cold to spend much time doing that. There’s lots of love in the air in Paris but it’s all frozen right now so we decided to quickly look for a café next to the Tower. Luckily we find it and as were walking up to it and its great big red restaurant. I look and see that there are heaters covering the walls – sweet, I think, it’s going to be warm while I’m sitting outside. But then I see the menu and that there’s 14 different languages on it. I think deep down inside that I just got duped, but this is only café that’s open today so I knew that I had to go with Rachael. We go in and we sit down as the waiter gives us the menus and asks what we like. We asked for a couple of minutes, he bows and walks away.

Sitting in the corner of this café as me and Rachael look out, we can only see the tip of the Eiffel Tower but it’s still pretty cool just to be sitting here at such a Parisian place, drinking coffee. I’m thinking that this is actually quite a nice experience but those feelings promptly disappeared when I realize we will be shelling out mostly a whole mortgage. I think deep down inside damn I wish I just enjoyed drinking water, but hey you only live once! We order two coffees and two croissants and realize that we’re about to be spending about €25 – I hope that it is a good coffee! We didn’t have long to wait as the gentleman came back quite quick and handed us the coffees and croissants, we say thank you and I take a quick sip of my coffee hoping to get that warm liquid to warm my whole body. It wasn’t half-bad for a coffee – not bitter at all but sweet and smooth, just like Rachael. I love it and it’s a wonderful experience when we start discussing our day and planning the other things that we’re trying to cross off our bucket list.

Eventually we stop talking and I pull Rachael gently in for a kiss. She gives me a small smile as we look into eachother’s eyes and I tell her I love her and want to be with her forever. She says the same thing back to me and I have a small moment of happiness that I hope we keep forever but then we bit into the croissant and realize that it’s not at all what it’s meant to be like – it was cold and not too crunchy, but hey what can you do. It was still a lovely experience. We finish our coffee and croissant, pay, then take our leave.

I hope you guys enjoyed this quick post I love you all. I hope you guys enjoy what you have around you even if it’s a toasty coffee. I’ll see you on the next post.
