Intro
Why is this on my list.

Have you ever wanted to sit somewhere that someone famous has sat?

Ernest Hemingway, Charlie Chaplin or like-minded folks. What about get drunk there?

I’m incredibly pleased to say that I got the chance to drink at Harry’s bar, a staple of Paris.

It’s been around since before I was born and the reason it’s on my bucket list is the history, and also because I like drinks, so long as it’s in moderation!

The story.

I don’t know if there are many places in the world where you stroll in to and get a feeling, but there have been a couple of places in my life where I felt that profoundly, including the Natural History Museum of London, the Rocky Mountains in Canada, the Great Wall of China and Harry’s New York City bar in Paris.

I have to say it’s a wonderful date night to saunter into the bar, with the sounds of the bartender making drinks and impressing the tourists. I remember it vividly,

Rachael and I sitting down in the corner booth just watching everybody as a well-dressed man comes up to us, slightly chubbier than I thought, and in a perfect English accent asking us what we like to drink. We quickly order the French 75 cocktail, he bowed and then went on his way.

He seemed so polite and kind, and I was thinking I can only imagine the stories he has in life and then just moments later I hear him speak perfect German and French! I’m quite surprised and I would have loved to sit down and have coffee with him, or maybe even a cocktail. Eventually, the drinks arrive, we tried it and damn, that drink is strong! I can’t complain as it went down smooth and soft but I knew that I could get very drunk off of the French 75.

I think to myself how beautiful it would be to learn how to actually make it myself, fitting as a homage to this beautiful bar. I’m taking all this in my head as I’m slowly getting drunk. I’m so lucky to be traveling with such an amazing woman who puts up with my antics.

I highly suggest everybody gets a chance to go to a small slice of New York in Paris. From there we eventually stumble our way over to the counter and pay, and find way out. It was such a beautiful experience in such an amazing city. I hope you guys enjoy this post, I love you and I’ll see you soon.
