628. ✓UK–See the Monty Python Foot.
By Dane Garner and Edited by Rachel
Intro
Why is this on my list.

Such an iconic piece of British memorabilia you can pass so easily reason this is on my bucket list is Shirley why the hell not

The story.
Can you see it in the photo?
It’s in the bottom left corner right above the pigeon.
You’ll miss it if you didn’t know but then God I didn’t know where the actual painting was, it was like the worlds largest I-spy by me and Rachael in the National Gallery, wandering to and fro trying to find a foot in a painting, how hilarious is that.
It was actually quite a beautiful moment when we found it. Granted I squealed and laughed like a pig which made everybody look at me but hey what can you do, we finally found Monty Pythons foot, the one that squishes the logo in the introduction of the movie, so iconic and so funny. I think it’s interesting as we walk through this museum, you see all these pompous art critics and people who look at the art for hours trying to find meaning within it, and those people can very easily overlook that foot.
I guess it’s all in perspective though. I would love to be able to look at a painting and understand it fully but it is all up to the interpreter. I’m not very good at it but I do love art and that’s all that matters, right?
Right…?
Also drinking red wine and wearing a beret, oh so fancy and beautiful. But we did have a good look at the painting, we also joked and laughed, just enjoyed ourselves and not take life too seriously. It’s funny to be in one of the world’s most amazing art collections and just laugh at the ridiculousness of everything.
I would like to get to know how to understand paintings more but I don’t want to lose that good hearted laughing or the ridiculousness. I want to keep the Monty Python’s foot and also the art critic in my heart. Except for modernist or contemporary art, I find that very difficult to see. It is still entertaining and beautiful but it’s just so dense when you look at it. You can spend hours looking at it and thinking, and get nowhere.
At least for me, that’s how it is. But I hope you guys liked the post and I hope you guys like the paintings. My blogs are a type of art for me trying to piece together my random thoughts. I use a dictation app on my computer to write and I beg my girlfriend to spell check my posts, ha. It is an art form in a way.
I hope you guys liked the post, I love you and I’ll see you soon.
